Founding of a Daughter Lodge

As the Lodge thrived, and with a growing number of members travelling considerable distances to the meetings, W. Bro. Alan Watkinson initiated the support for a petition to establish another diver-related Lodge, to be based at Uppermill in the Province of Yorkshire, West Riding.

Old Englidh Night commemorative mugOn Friday, 9th October 1998, the Provincial Grand Master consecrated the Sub Aqua Lodge No. 9684, at Greenhead Masonic Hall, Huddersfield, West Yorks. Of the eighteen Founder members, ten were members of BSAL - the Mother Lodge - and many other BSAL members were present at the ceremony.

The Brethren of the new Sub Aqua Lodge adopted the July meeting at Uppermill as part of their annual calendar, and the first joint meeting between mother and daughter lodges was held there on Saturday, 10th July 1999. The respective Worshipful Masters were Bro. Barry Gray and W. Bro. Alan Watkinson.
